I have no formal training in the arts, but I’ve developed a passion for painting through self-guided study and hands-on practice. I’m particularly drawn to the small, intimate compositions of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Their striking contrasts, dramatic light-dark transitions, and bold use of colour — such as the ultramarine blue made from ground lapis lazuli used in depictions of the Virgin Mary's robes — offer a rich foundation for exploring technique and mood.
As part of my self-education, I create small-scale reproductions of historic works. Each study is a deliberate exercise in understanding composition, tonal balance, and brushwork. These quiet, focused challenges not only sharpen my skills but also help build my confidence as a painter.
