In Poem of Light, I attempt to capture the quiet beauty of the London’s Canals on a winter afternoon. Soft illumination and reflective waters evoke a sense of stillness and time suspended. The use of monochrome tones enhances the canal’s age and dreamy atmosphere, drawing out textures, contrasts and shapes. This painting was shortlisted at Royal Academy of Arts Summer exhibition.

The London Canals were built in stages between 1816 and 1820, the London Canals once transported heavy goods such as coal and timber across the city. Today, it remains a historical remnant of London’s industrial past.
